Born on the 12 of January 1974 in a little place called
Widnes, which is just outside of Liverpool but close enough to still count her as a sexy Scouser, Melanie is the beautiful
daughter of Joan and Alan Chisholm. She has a half-sister Emma, brother Paul, half brother Declan, and many other siblings
on different sides. Being raised around mostly boys is possibly the reason Melanie used to consider herself a tomboy, but
she is still a little girl at heart. She says she has always dreamed of being a pop star even as a kid, and went to a dance
college to hopefully help fulfill that dream.
She once was offered a role in the musical Cats but, as luck would
have it, a throat infection kept her from performing. No worries though...soon enough she saw the chance of a lifetime begin
to unfold when she looked in a performing magazine and saw an ad for auditions...young women wanted for a pop band. Thus,
a star was born!
We know her better as Sporty Spice, the one who does all the backflips
and high kicks. However, this Northern lass would rather be known simply as Melanie. She prefers the long version of
her name than the androgynous Mel, and possibly with good reason.
Many of the not-so-nice nicknames were thought of by the coldhearted,
money-hungry press. Remember Beefy Spice? The Plain One? Dyke Spice? Yeah, those can hurt a sensitive, easy-going girl
like Melanie. It seemed that the whole world questioned her sexuality for awhile, and still do. Now that she is fit again
(PHWOAR!! Did you see her muscles on the cover of NOW magazine?) the press
has no reason to ridicule or upset her anymore. Of course, tabloids will do that no matter what, but
let me say this to Melanie... YOU ARE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMAN IN THE WORLD, AND WE LOVE YOUR LOOK NO MATTER WHAT!
Those who do not consider themselves a fan may agree with the press. You may be one of the (hopefully
very few!) people that could care less how she got here or why Melanie still continues to go on, dispite the harsh reality
of the music biz and heartless buffoons who choose to attempt to bring her down.
Well, let me tell you something. In case you haven't noticed, she's the perfect poster child for
Capricorns everywhere. Very true to her sign, and undoubtedly determined, goal-oriented and hard-working. She knows what she
wants and goes for it without second-guessing. At times she may wonder how she got here, or how things happened so fast,
but that is just a typical Cappy for ya...an Earth sign, down-to-earth and modest like you wouldn't believe. She has two flats--one
in London and another in Liverpool so she can be close to her family. I admire her for her devotion to friends and family,
and her need to succeed without wanting to step on people's toes on the way up. She wants to climb the ladder of success,
but isn't the ruthless type in doing so. Cheers to you, Melanie... for no one could compare to you!
Now, one question. Will you marry me? ;-)
